Data Principles

Handle answers with care.

These principles describe the boundaries we use when building and operating My Political Matrix. Read the full details in Privacy and Terms.

Your answers are sensitive

Political responses deserve deliberate handling. They are used to calculate and explain a Matrix and may reveal or reflect political opinions.

Identity is separate

Where the architecture supports it, contact identity is stored separately from political observations through an opaque respondent identifier. That separation is not a claim of anonymity.

Demographics are optional

Broad demographic context is optional, separate from scoring, and not required to receive a Matrix.

Sharing is your choice

Results are private by default where supported. Public sharing is an intentional action and is limited to the displayed Matrix.

Marketing is separate

Requesting a result email does not opt you into marketing. Marketing consent is affirmative and can be withdrawn at Unsubscribe.

Your email and your result

When you complete the Matrix, we ask for your email address so we can deliver your result link. We also use it, occasionally, to invite you to retake the Matrix as the questions and scoring improve. Your responses, in aggregated and de-identified form, are used to improve the instrument, build comparison baselines, and support our polling and political research. We do not sell your email address. Every non-result email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all invitations.

Research uses safeguards

Research and partner use should rely on aggregate or appropriately de-identified information. Direct identifiers and raw contact records are excluded from that pathway.

Methodology is versioned

Historical results preserve question-set, scoring, methodology, and baseline provenance. A Matrix remains an estimate based on available evidence; it is not a verdict.
